IV Nutrient Therapy
IV Nutrient Therapy is the infusion of vitamins and minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and immune modulating compounds in an intravenous solution. IV therapy is superior to oral nutrients and vitamin shots because you don’t lose any nutrients in digestion or absorption from the muscle. With IV therapy, we are able to put the nutrients directly into the blood stream where the cells can immediately use them.
People who have undergone cancer therapy or have had long term illness, have had parts of their intestine removed, Celiac’s disease, hypochlorhydria or are on acid reducing medication, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic diarrhea, GI parasitosis and candidiasis, cystic fibrosis, anorexia, bulimia, HIV, gastric bypass, etc.; are not able to effectively digest and absorb proteins, vitamins and minerals from their gastrointestinal tract. This is due to the damage to the gut cells, genetic factors, and poor secretion of digestive juices due to hormonal factors. As a result of nutrient deficiency we see low immune function, poor body composition, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, heart issues, hypertension, hair loss, brittle nails, restless leg syndrome, sleep problems, weakness, and pain.
With IV nutrient therapy we can bypass poor digestion and absorption and help the patient to obtain optimal wellness faster while we work on correcting the underlying factors that are leading to the deficiencies in the first place.
IV therapy can also be used acutely for colds, flus and infections. The Meyer’s Cocktail which is a combination of calcium, magnesium, B12, B5, B6, B complex, and Vitamin C has been used since the 1930’s to help people recover from acute infections within a few days instead of 1-2 weeks.
The Meyer’s IV cocktail is also a very effective treatment for shortening recovery time with infections like mononucleosis and helps to decrease viral counts in hepatitis C and HIV.
IV nutrient therapy can also be used to treat high blood pressure associated with magnesium deficiency and migraines that are due to constriction or spasm of the blood vessels. Magnesium is very important to the proper function of smooth muscles. Smooth muscles are the type of muscles that line the arteries. When you are deficient in magnesium the arteries can’t relax and this causes your blood pressure to go up or migraines to occur. Oral magnesium doesn’t correct the problem because you need a large concentration of magnesium outside the cell to drive it into the cell’s interior where it performs its functions. You can’t take enough magnesium orally to make this process happen because you lose most of it in the digestive tract. IV magnesium is the only way to correct the deficiency. Magnesium levels are easily assessed with blood tests.
These are just a few of the many ways that IV nutrient therapy can benefit your health.
